Lead single “Here It Comes Slowly” and “Ici Paris” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. It has been fifteen years Noir Desir’ last studio CD, “Tostaky” which won Array MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. There is so much to love about Noir Desir, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. Unappreciated gift to Rock: Pop-Rock
Ici Paris rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. Alice is probably the most interesting track on Tostaky. One Trip One Noise is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Tostaky (Le Continent) is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. One listen to the sheer beauty of Marlene was all I needed. Johnny Colere is a song to enjoy for years to come. I like the idea behind 7 Minutes. Sober Song is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Voice and instruments in It Spurts complement each other. This track is clearly meant to showcase Noir Desir’s vocal abilities.
