It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Linda Ronstadt energies, virtually a rebirth. Stanley Donwood has compared writing for Linda Ronstadt’s new album to that on ‘Adieu False Heart’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. This album has some very good songs like Too Old To Die Young and Parlez Moi D’amour. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
The opening track Parlez Moi D’amour is very much like you would expect from other albums. Rattle My Cage is Linda Ronstadt’s best work in years. It’s such an underrated song. One I Love Is Gone is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Burns’ Supper - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. Go Away From My Window - A catchy, upbeat tune. Plus Tu Tournes - This one is lively and fun. King Of Bohemia - A classic Linda Ronstadt track. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. What sets I Can’t Get Over You apart is Linda Ronstadt’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Opening defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Adieu False Heart is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Interlude has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. Closing is another favourite of mine.
