There is so much to love about Freestylers, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This is the first studio album from Freestylers since bad diagnosis in 2004. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Freestylers’s album Raw As Fuck falls to No. 2 with 333,000, a sales slide of 56%. I wish that “Raw As Fuck” album was instrumental.
The sound of Boom Blast is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Raw As Fuck is the albums biggest surprise. Get A Life is the more seemingly obscure song on Raw As Fuck that bear up best to repeated listening. From the moment you listen to The Slammer you’re hooked. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Dogs and Sledges make listening to Freestylers like being in some sort of time warp. What sets Warrior Charge apart is Freestylers’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Losing You because the melody in the chorus is so good. No Replica is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Freestylers ever produced. Some call Right On from Raw As Fuck as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Too Far rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo.
