Thom Yorke has compared writing for Sissel’s new album to that on ‘De Beste 1986-2006 (cd2)’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Sissel’s album De Beste 1986-2006 (cd2) falls to No. 2 with 727,000, a sales slide of 65%. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Sissel on ‘My Tribute’. This is what good Rock should be.
Bist du Bei Mir (3:43) - awsome. Ave Maria - A nice song. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Elia Rising because the melody in the chorus is so good. Sissel emotions are reflected through Where the Lost Ones Go. Sissel must have run out of lyrics on the next track Ga Inte Forbi. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on De Beste 1986-2006 (cd2) is Mitt Hjerte Alltid Vanker. Prince Igor is the marvelous blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. From the moment you listen to What Are We Made Of you’re hooked. Varvise is a bit of a show-tune. Bergensiana is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. You Don’t Bring Me Flowers - Check out that bassline! In Vilja Sangen full palet of sound is used by Sissel to accentuate the presentation. Syng Kun I Din Ungdoms Var is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. If You Love Me as a highlight of De Beste 1986-2006 (cd2) contains a ton of excellent melodies. I think Nar Rosene Blomstrer I Mormors Hage is the best song Sissel has ever done. En DeIlig Dag - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Sukiyaki was the first single release from the album De Beste 1986-2006 (cd2). Sissel sings Ung Aslaug in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Barndomshjemmet is probably one of Sissel’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to.
