Since completing 2005’s ‘Welcome Sun’, Fool’s Garden fulfilled their contract with Virgin Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Lead single “Welcome Sun” and “Cook It A While” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. After seeing Welcome Sun, I had to have a good Fool’s Garden cd. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
Cook It A While is astounding. This track is full of harmonies and gets Ready for the Real Life off to a relaxing start. Daihaminkay (4:30) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Cold is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Does Anybody Know is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Once Jeannie Is Dancing With The Sun gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Man Of Devotion stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Ready for the Real Life. Fool’s Garden allows each song to breathe and flourish. Fool’s Garden offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Peter is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Dreaming (remastered version) is absolutely incredible.
