Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Electric Six on ‘Rock and Roll Evacuation’. ‘Senor Smoke’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Lead single “Rock and Roll Evacuation” and “Devil Nights” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Smart music for smart people.
Devil Nights - arguably the best track on Senor Smoke album. Vocals of Electric Six in Bite Me really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Jimmy Carter is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Overall a nice softer song. Dance Epidemic is pretty funky and mellow. Album opener Future Boys is a bright, upbeat ditty. Dance-A-Thon 2005 is the more seemingly obscure song on Senor Smoke that bear up best to repeated listening. The opening track Be My Dark Angel is very much like you would expect from other albums. Vibrator is astounding. Simple and heartfelt closing track Boy Or Girl closes Senor Smoke on a high note. Pleasing Interlude No.2 is outstanding work of Electric Six. In Radio Ga Ga it becomes nowhere more obvious that Electric Six has yet to define own style. Taxi To Nowhere great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Future Is In The Future makes a person feel astounding.
