Thom Yorke has compared writing for The Animals’s new album to that on ‘Restrospective’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. On Restrospective album, The Animals have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. There is no doubt that The Animals has talent. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about The Animals ever.
Sky Pilot I just LOVE this mix! Within the first few notes of White Houses it’s perfectly clear that The Animals is living this song. This track is full of harmonies and gets Restrospective off to a relaxing start. I like Anything because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. San Franciscan Nights is probably the most interesting track on Restrospective. When I Was Young is another favourite of mine. I now have A Girl Named Sandoz as one of my personal favorites. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Restrospective. First time I heard Hey Gyp was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.Inside - Looking Out is another strong production from The Animals. This is one hell of a track. Don’t Bring Me Down to me is the best you can get from The Animals. I like the agression and power of It’s My Life. The Animals sings We Gotta Get Out Of This Place in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Bring It On Home To Me is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood is simply perfect. Boom Boom is a bit different from The Animals stereotypical stuff. So much energy, so exciting a sound. After about the third Baby Let Me Take You Home listen through, I began to believe this song is The Animals’s essence. I came to like I’m Crying. House Of The Rising Sun catches attention immediately,
