IF YOU LIKE ALL Guus Meeuwis’S SONG GO FOR IT! seven years ago, Guus Meeuwis briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Ik Wil Je”. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Guus Meeuwis energies, virtually a rebirth. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
Ik Wil Je is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Tien Jaar - Levensecht have ended. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Guus Meeuwis. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. ‘T Dondert En ‘t Bliksemt is a cool, simple song by Guus Meeuwis at the top of his game. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Tien Jaar - Levensecht. Op Straat is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Toen Ik Je Zag is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Haven In Zicht is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Bondgenoot is a cool song and it grows on you. Guus Meeuwis has astounded me with this amazing track. Don’t judge Per Spoor on the first listening. Ze Komt Naar Huis motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Zo Ver Weg catches attention immediately, Geef Mij Je Angst is possibly the best song Guus Meeuwis has come up.
