Ivan Grach has compared writing for Lali Puna’s new album to that on ‘I Thought I Was Over That: Rare, Remixed and B-Sides (CD1)’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. There were many famous songs of Lali Puna available. Since completing 2005’s ‘The Failure of the Leading Sign Industry’, Lali Puna fulfilled their contract with Savoy Records and where under no obligation to release another album. If I may, I suggest “The Failure of the Leading Sign Industry”. That one song is amazing!
Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think 40 Days is my favorite song on I Thought I Was Over That: Rare, Remixed and B-Sides (CD1). Clear Cut (Lali Puna-Bomb the Bass) is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Don’t judge Awaiting an Accident (Remix for Boom Bip) on the first listening. It’s Not the Worst I’ve Looked (Remix for Two Lone Swordsmen) - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. I hope to keep hearing Lali Puna works for a long time to come. Lali Puna must have run out of lyrics on the next track The Daily Match. (This Is) The Dream of Evan and Chan (Remix for Dntel) one of the best in my collection. Past Machine can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Lali Puna is all about. Excellent vocals and musical performances.
