After debuting at No. 1 last week, Public Enemy’s album Power To The People and The Beats: Public Enemy’s Greatest Hits falls to No. 2 with 610,000, a sales slide of 99%. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Public Enemy energies, virtually a rebirth. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Public Enemy on ‘You’re Gonna Get Yours’. Power To The People and The Beats: Public Enemy’s Greatest Hits is the best essence of Public Enemy.
Public Enemy No. 1 rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Public Enemy must have run out of lyrics on the next track Rebel Without A Pause. Bring The Noise is a excellent song and it grows on you. After you’ve listened to Don’t Believe The Hype, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Public Enemy emotions are reflected through Prophets Of Rage. Black Steel In The Hour Of Chaos is perfect. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Fight The Power. Welcome To The Terrordome - To me, this is the best song on the Power To The People and The Beats: Public Enemy’s Greatest Hits. This song stands out greatly from the others. Brothers Gonna Work It Out is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Can’t Do Nuttin’ For Ya Man is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Can’t Truss It one is one of the better boring ones. Song Shut ‘em Down is actually a funny song. By The Time I Get To Arizona is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Hazy Shade Of Criminal is the first taste of the new album. Give It Up is the amazing blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Best song on the album, love it.
