This album has some very good songs like Santa Bara (Quiva Chang and Pedacito de Mi Vida. This is one of the best Cd’s Celina y Reutilio has dropped to date. When you buy a Celina y Reutilio album, you know exactly what you’re getting! This album is awesome.
Pedacito de Mi Vida gets you up and jumping. In Rey del Mundo Celina y Reutilio spins a tale you want to hear to the end. One listen to the sheer beauty of Tumba La Ca was all I needed. La Virgen de Las Mercedes [Guaracha - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Canto a Borinquen [Guaracha-Guajira] is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Casa de Yagua [Canto Jro] is a astounding, simple song by Celina y Reutilio at the top of his game. Celina y Reutilio sings Ritmo Cordonero [Ritmo Espiritual] in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. Agua Pa’ M is a exquisite song and it grows on you. Album opener Romance Guajiro is a bright, upbeat ditty. La Caridad del Cobre is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Cantos de Cuba have ended. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Celina y Reutilio. Me Ten Amarra’o - Celina y Reutilio, Obdulio Morales, is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Hijo de Elegu is one of the more up-tempo songs on Cantos de Cuba. Papoc is a great opener for Cantos de Cuba. When I listen to Quiero Bailar - Celina, Celina y Reutilio, Obdulio Morales in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. A unique and uplifting song. The sound in Tirilo is really warm and Celina y Reutilio’s signature voice is still very much present. Cita en el Platanal - A catchy, upbeat tune. Yo Soy el Punto Cubano I just LOVE this mix!
