I am not a real New Age music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Being Julia’ really is amazing. four years ago, Mychael Danna briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Avice Gets The Part”. There is so much to love about Mychael Danna, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This is what good New Age should be.
The song feels complete. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. A unique and uplifting song. There is excellent mix of music in Birthday Presents. Charades presents the marvelous mix of instruments on Being Julia. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. So much energy, so exciting a sound.One listen to the sheer beauty of Farewell My Love was all I needed. Mychael Danna breathes new life into the music in For Old Times Sake. Mychael Danna sings his heart out in I Saw The Light On. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Being Julia. I have all of Mychael Danna’s tracks and Jimmy’s Magic is probably the most his introspective effort. Laird O’drumblair is simple, dignified and effective, Mychael Danna refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Life Is Just A Bowl Of Cherries - A nice song. Mad About The Boy have really caught my ear and imagination. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Not That Sort Of Girl - This is a very lively song. Play For The Other Side - This one is lively and fun. Mychael Danna offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. Reunion has a fun tempo. Smoke Gets In Your Eyes is a song to enjoy for years to come. Take A Break is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. The Lift defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. The Real World is astounding. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Mychael Danna sings They Didn’t Believe Me in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. I think Yes, Yes is the best song Mychael Danna has ever done.
