This fifteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Devin Townsend Band has. Since Devin Townsend Band last CD (Synchestra) on SixSteps records back in 2005, I have felt a massive void in my life. Lead single “Let It Roll” and “Hypergeek” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. I wish that “Synchestra” album was instrumental.
In Hypergeek full palet of sound is used by Devin Townsend Band to accentuate the presentation. Triumph is the most memorable and exquisite. Babysong is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Synchestra. Vampira on Synchestra is solid and easy to listen to. Mental Tan presents the excellent mix of instruments on Synchestra. Devin Townsend Band breathes new life into the music in Gaia. Pixillate is one of the coolest songs Devin Townsend Band has ever recorded. Devin Townsend Band has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Song A Simple Lullaby is actually a funny song. Sunset - A catchy, upbeat tune. This track is clearly meant to showcase Devin Townsend Band’s vocal abilities. Untitled marked the continuation of Devin Townsend Band in style evolution.
