Ministry Of Sound’s debut, ‘Very Best of Funky House Breakdown’, does not fit easily into one genre. Lead single “Out Of Touch” and “Call On Me” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. When you buy a Ministry Of Sound album, you know exactly what you’re getting! I greatly enjoyed this CD.
Call On Me is one of my favorite songs by Ministry Of Sound. Put ‘em High (JJ Club Mix) gets you up and jumping. Take Me To The Clouds Above is a very catchy tune. This track is a great song that still never gets old. The opening track Star To Fall is very much like you would expect from other albums. Stupidisco has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Ministry Of Sound’s strong vocals come to the fore. Drop The Pressure - Ministry Of Sound first major hit. Winter (Aston Martinez & JLP Club Mix) sets the tone for the entire album. Very Best of Funky House Breakdown couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Sunrise (JJ Stockholm Club Mix). One listen to the sheer beauty of Attention! (Future Funk Remix) was all I needed. I See Girls (Tom Neville Crazy Legs Mix) stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Song Feel The Vibe is actually a funny song. Album opener In My Heart is a bright, upbeat ditty. There is marvelous mix of music in Love Story Vs Finally. Hype Hype (Tom Neville Remix) is the amazing blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Give It Away was the first single release from the album Very Best of Funky House Breakdown. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Very Best of Funky House Breakdown. Pump It Up (Jerry Ropero & Denis The Menace Remix) is simple, dignified and effective, Ministry Of Sound refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Everywhere 2005 is a song to enjoy for years to come.
