Since completing 2005’s ‘Intro/Death Ripper’, Municipal Waste fulfilled their contract with SixSteps records and where under no obligation to release another album. This album has some very good songs like Intro/Death Ripper and Unleash the Bastards. twelve years ago, Municipal Waste briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Unleash the Bastards”. Such great and happy songs.
No Municipal Waste song has come close to capturing my attention as Unleash the Bastards did. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Thing because the melody in the chorus is so good. Blood Drive is probably the highlight of the album. Accelerated Vision sets the tone for the entire album. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Set to Destruct is pretty funky and mellow. Hazardous Mutation - Okay, I just talked about depth. Nailed Casket is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Black Ice is possibly the best song Municipal Waste has come up. I came to like Mind Eraser. Terror Shark is simple, dignified and effective, Municipal Waste refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Bang Over is the more seemingly obscure song on Hazardous Mutation that bear up best to repeated listening. Thrashin of the Christ is outstanding work of Municipal Waste.
