Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Jane Birkin on ‘Je M’Appelle Jane’. I am not a real Pop music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Rendez-Vous’ really is amazing. For older fans Rendez-Vous will put a massive smile accross your face. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Rendez-Vous.
T’as Pas Le Droit D’Avoir Moins Mal Que Moi which is my favorite is a truly Jane Birkin sounding song. In Every Dream Home A Heartache - Bryan Ferry is one of the more up-tempo songs on Rendez-Vous. Palais Royal is probably one of Jane Birkin’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. In La Grippe full palet of sound is used by Jane Birkin to accentuate the presentation. Strange Melody is a song to enjoy for years to come. Strong, powerful vocals of Jane Birkin in O Leaozinho - Caetano Veloso are very impressive. Pour Un Flirt Avec Toi (3:12) a good melody. The Simple Story is one of the best records ever. Te Souviens-Tu? - Manu Chao is nothing but pure genius. It’s such an underrated song. Music and lyrics of Surannee - Francoise Hardy creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Canary Canary is another strong production from Jane Birkin. This track is clearly meant to showcase Jane Birkin’s vocal abilities. Bonus Track: Port-Bail - Check out that bassline! Bonus Track: Canary Canary (Version Tokyo) make listening to Jane Birkin like being in some sort of time warp.
