Standing Room Only isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Roomful Of Blues had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. ‘Standing Room Only’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Standing Room Only.
Simple and heartfelt closing track Flip Flap Jack closes Standing Room Only on a high note. I Can’t Stand You No More is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Jona Lee motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Love Grown Cold is a bit of a show-tune. After few listenings I started to like My Mind Is Troubled more and more. What sets Nobody Knows apart is Roomful Of Blues’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Don’t judge She Put A Spell On Me on the first listening. Voice and instruments in Straight Jaquette complement each other. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Sufferin’ With The Blues. The sound of The Love You Lost On The Way is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Two For The Price Of Ten - For me, this is the best of the album. Up Jumped The Devil is a very catchy tune.
