Thom Yorke has compared writing for Pig Destroyer’s new album to that on ‘Painter Of Dead Girls’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. It’s natural for Pig Destroyer to take a stab at ‘Hymn’ considering her long-professed love for Babylon Zoo. Self-described as Metal: Death,Black with lots of words, Pig Destroyer comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. If you want to hear real Metal: Death,Black, get this record now!
Taskmaster one of the best in my collection. Musically Black Centipede is superior to other tracks in Painter Of Dead Girls. Charming song, great melody. Fuck You Up and Get High is the most memorable and marvelous. This track is clearly meant to showcase Pig Destroyer’s vocal abilities. Opening track Blank Dice shows the best of Pig Destroyer. Blonde Prostitute have really caught my ear and imagination. In Patterns Of Failure you won’t find any flashy solos. Rejection Fetish to me is the best you can get from Pig Destroyer. I find myself hearing bits of Dark Satellites here and there throughout my waking hours. Purity Undone is probably one of Pig Destroyer’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. Forgotten Child still maintains something of a specific flourish. White Sand is a striking and quite long song. Painter Of Dead Girls is the first taste of the new album. Down In The Streets is one of the coolest songs Pig Destroyer has ever recorded. Untitled is worth the money.
