Since completing 2004’s ‘This Majestic Land’, Michael Hoppe fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. thirteen years ago, Michael Hoppe briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “So You”. I am not a real New Age music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Solace’ really is amazing. To me Michael Hoppe is the best band ever.
So You is a very catchy tune. Romance For Violin and Orchestra is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Lachrymosa is one of the coolest songs Michael Hoppe has ever recorded. Beloved is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Renouncement is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Solace have ended. Judes Theme is really the reason why I recommend buying Solace. I like Nimbus because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Elegy (For Joan) is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Pie Jesu is probably the highlight of the album. Michael Hoppe sings his heart out in Farewell. Michael Hoppe rocks harder than ever with The Parting.
