Since completing 2004’s ‘The Holly and The Ivy’, Kim Robertson fulfilled their contract with Blue Note Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Since Kim Robertson last CD (Christmas Lullaby) on Blue Note Records back in 2004, I have felt a massive void in my life. Kim Robertson was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Kim Robertson and Christmas Lullaby together. Great New Age right here!
Away In A Mangerflow Gently Sweet Afton is the more seemingly obscure song on Christmas Lullaby that bear up best to repeated listening. The Snow Lay On The Ground has a fun tempo. One listen to the sheer beauty of Polish Lullaby (Lulajze Jezuniu)Cold Is The Morning was all I needed. A Prayer For St. Bridget (Gabhaim Molta Bride)Gabriel’s Message one of the best in my collection. Christ Child’s Lullaby very upbeat. St. Basil’s Hymn (The Kalanta Of The New Year) marked the continuation of Kim Robertson in style evolution. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in Christmas Lullaby. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Verbum Supernum Prodiens from the beginning to the end. The First NoG«l - a classic song. Of The Father’s Love Begotten have really caught my ear and imagination. What sets Scottish Lullaby apart is Kim Robertson’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Silent Night was the first single release from the album Christmas Lullaby.
