Joe Dolan was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Joe Dolan and Make Me an Island: Best of Joe Dolan together. When you buy a Joe Dolan album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Since completing 2004’s ‘Make Me an Island’, Joe Dolan fulfilled their contract with Blue Note Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Joe Dolan “Make Me an Island: Best of Joe Dolan” is an amazing album.
This track is a great song that still never gets old. You’re Such a Good Looking Woman is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Here We Go Again is the albums biggest surprise. First time I heard Lady in Blue was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.Tar and Cement is pretty funky and mellow. The opening track Teresa is very much like you would expect from other albums. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. I Need You is beautiful, yet underrated track. Once Sister Mary gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Answer to Everything - For me, this is the best of the album. Joe Dolan is one of artists that allow his songs like Pretty Brown Eyes to stand on their own and be heard. In Sixteen Brothers you won’t find any flashy solos. I Love You More and More Everyday is worth the money. It took me a little time but I ended up loving Aching Breaking Heart. But I Do - Joe Dolan first major hit. I like the agression and power of Love of the Common People. Excellent vocals and musical performances. From the moment you listen to Most Wanted Man in the USA you’re hooked. Sweet Little Rock’n'roller is absolutely incredible. A great put together song. Saturday Night at the Movies is one of my favorite songs by Joe Dolan. I believe I’ll Take the Money and Run is one of the most marvelous, heartfelt songs ever written. Unchained Melody is the album’s biggest hit, I think. I Know It’s Over - a classic song.
