Self-described as Metal: Heavy with lots of words, Green Carnation comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Green Carnation on ‘The Quiet Offspring’. On The Quiet Offspring album, Green Carnation have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. The Quiet Offspring is the best essence of Green Carnation.
I like to sing along with Between The Gentle Small and The Standing Tall, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. Just When You Think Its Safe is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Album opener A Place For Me-Vic is a bright, upbeat ditty. The Everlasting Moment is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Charming song, great melody. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. Dead But Dreaming is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. Once you hear Pile Of Doubt, you will listen to it over and over. When I Was You is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. Childs Play - Part II is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite.
