John Digester has compared writing for Leaves’ Eyes’s new album to that on ‘Lovelorn’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. This eleven-song debut EP shows the promise that Leaves’ Eyes has. Since completing 2004’s ‘Norwegian Lovesong’, Leaves’ Eyes fulfilled their contract with Virgin Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
Tale Of The Sea Maid is the first taste of the new album. Oceans Way is one of the more up-tempo songs on Lovelorn. Lovelorn is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. The Dream marked the continuation of Leaves’ Eyes in style evolution. Don’t judge Secret on the first listening. For Amelie one is one of the better boring ones. When listening to Temptation, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Within the first few notes of Into Your Light it’s perfectly clear that Leaves’ Eyes is living this song. Leaves’ Eyes rocks harder than ever with Return To Life.
