This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Leo Ferre. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Leo Ferre on ‘L’idole’. On the Ireland charts, superstar Leo Ferre’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. This is one of Leo Ferre best albums
Paris C’est Une Idee is a excellent song and it grows on you. L’ete 68 - I like this one. Once you hear La Banlieue, you will listen to it over and over. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Marizibil, which shows, blatantly, how much Leo Ferre has evolved as a singer. A St-Germain Des Pres is another strong production from Leo Ferre. I think Pepee is the best song Leo Ferre has ever done. La Revolution has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Leo Ferre’s strong vocals come to the fore. It’s a great pleasure to listen to A Toi from the beginning to the end. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. Musically Rotterdam is superior to other tracks in Recital en public a Bobino 1969. A fantastic track full of wonder. Les Assis - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Ame, Te Souvient-Il ? is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. C’est Extra - A classic Leo Ferre track. Excellent vocals and musical performances. Leo Ferre rocks harder than ever with Madame La Misere. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. In Le Printempsq Des Poetes Leo Ferre is at his best. La Nuit is a very catchy tune. Leo Ferre emotions are reflected through Spleen. Ils Ont Vote is another favourite of mine. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Leo Ferre. Recital en public a Bobino 1969 couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Comme Une Fille. I’ve found myself listening to Les Anarchistes back to back and back many times. Voice of Leo Ferre in Ni Dieu Ni Maitre is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant.
