For older fans Outside Closer will put a massive smile accross your face. Hood had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. Stanley Donwood has compared writing for Hood’s new album to that on ‘Outside Closer’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Smart music for smart people.
One of the songs that always stick in my mind is The Negatives because the melody in the chorus is so good. Opening track Any Hopeful Thoughts Arrive shows the best of Hood. This song may be the most meaningful. Winter 72 is almost impossible to review. The Lost You - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Hood. Hood offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. In Closure it becomes nowhere more obvious that Hood has yet to define own style. This is it, Forever is probably the most interesting track on Outside Closer.
