This is the first studio album from Fair to Midland since bad diagnosis in 2004. two years ago, Fair to Midland briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “when the bough breaks”. Now signed to Fair to Midland’s Virgin Records, the title track from second album “Inter Funda Stifle” leads Fair to Midland’s back-to-school campaign. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
when the bough breaks is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Fair to Midland released so far. Fair to Midland offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. kyla cries cologne is just simply stunning. timbuktu is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. abigail have really caught my ear and imagination. It’s a great pleasure to listen to the walls of jericho from the beginning to the end. granny niblo is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. inter.mission is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. orphan anthem ‘86 - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. cipieron is pretty funky and mellow. The first time I listened to a seafarer’s knot I was struck by its perfect sound. vice/versa is the album’s biggest hit, I think. I loved dance of the manatee the first time I heard it. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create.
