There is no doubt that Olivia Ruiz has talent. La Femme Chocolat isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Now signed to Olivia Ruiz’s Capitol Records, the title track from second album “La Femme Chocolat” leads Olivia Ruiz’s back-to-school campaign. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like La Femme Chocolat.
La Femme Chocolat as a highlight of La Femme Chocolat contains a ton of excellent melodies. Olivia Ruiz breathes new life into the music in I Need A Child. You have to get essence of the Non-Dits’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on La Femme Chocolat. This is one hell of a track. Opening track Quijote shows the best of Olivia Ruiz. Cabaret Blanc is perfect and different song. Olivia Ruiz has astounded me with this amazing track. I listened to the opening track Vitrier and liked it a lot. La Petite Voleuse is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. As always, Olivia Ruiz’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. De Toi A Moi II / La Molinera make listening to Olivia Ruiz like being in some sort of time warp.
