Since Lionel Hampton last CD (Gold Collection (cd2)) on ForeFront Records back in 2006, I have felt a massive void in my life. After seeing Air Mail Special Pt. I & II, I had to have a good Lionel Hampton cd. I am not a real Jazz music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Gold Collection (cd2)’ really is amazing. This album is awesome.
I like the idea behind Hey! Ba-Ba-Re-Bop. Slide Wamp Slide the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Overtime is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Lionel Hampton released so far. Beulah’s Boogie is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Million Dollar Smile is probably the most interesting track on Gold Collection (cd2). In Hamps Boogie-Woogie No.1 Lionel Hampton is at his best. Flying Home No.1 - My least favorite song on this album. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with In The Bag. I find myself hearing bits of Three-Quarter Boogie here and there throughout my waking hours. Blue (Because Of You) was the first single release from the album Gold Collection (cd2). Fiddle Dee Dee (2:42) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. All of songs on Gold Collection (cd2) and have something to say letting alone Jack The Bellboy. House Of Morgan is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. Musically I’ve Found A New Baby is superior to other tracks in Gold Collection (cd2). Lionel Hampton has astounded me with this amazing track. I hope to keep hearing Lionel Hampton works for a long time to come. One Street Letter From You had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer.
