ten years ago, Funeral briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “From These Wounds”. This is the first studio album from Funeral since bad diagnosis in 2006. From These Wounds isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Overall, I would highly recommend From These Wounds CD.
From These Wounds has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Funeral’s strong vocals come to the fore. I have all of Funeral’s tracks and The Architecture Of Loss is probably the most his introspective effort. Red Moon is the more seemingly obscure song on From These Wounds that bear up best to repeated listening. Vagrant God is a medium tempo tune. Pendulum without a doubt is the standout song of From These Wounds. Saturn actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Funeral’s face.
