Self-described as Easy Listening with lots of words, Benabar comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Now signed to Benabar’s Blue Note Records, the title track from second album “Reprise Des Negociations” leads Benabar’s back-to-school campaign. It has been eleven years Benabar’ last studio CD, “Reprise Des Negociations” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. To me Benabar is the best band ever.
Album opener Maritie Et Gilbert Carpentier is a bright, upbeat ditty. Reprise Des Negociations couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Quatre Murs Et Un Toit. Benabar has astounded me with this amazing track. I have all of Benabar’s tracks and Triste Compagne is probably the most his introspective effort. I was truly moved when I heard La Berceuse. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. This song stands out greatly from the others. Le Mechant De James Bond stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. Opening track Le Fou Rire shows the best of Benabar. Te Peux Compter Sur Moi is really the reason why I recommend buying Reprise Des Negociations. Le Cahier De Solfege is almost impossible to review.
