Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Slum Village on ‘intro (prod. by br gunna)’. Slum Village was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Slum Village and Prelude To A Classic together. This is the first studio album from Slum Village since bad diagnosis in 2005. If I may, I suggest “intro (prod. by br gunna)”. That one song is amazing!
Slum Village sings his heart out in Get Ya Paper (Prod. By BR Gunna). I like the agression and power of Can I Be Me (Prod. By BR Gunna). Walk Wit Me (Prod. By BR Gunna) catches attention immediately, EZ Up Ft. Dwele (Prod. By BR Gunna) - My least favorite song on this album. A unique and uplifting song. I like Itz Your World Ft. Kurupt (Prod. By J. Dilla) because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. in the lab (prod. by t3) is amazing and different song. Do Our Thang Ft. Dramatics (Prod. By Karriem Riggins) one is one of the better boring ones. My Life Ft. Frank-N-Dake (Prod. By BR Gunna) is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Let Me See What Ya Got (Prod. By BR Gunna) is one of the coolest songs Slum Village has ever recorded. I was truly moved when I heard who are we (prod. by j. dilla). Ghetto Movies (Prod. By BR Gunna) is beautiful, yet underrated track. Once up (prod. by br gunna) gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. No Slum Village song has come close to capturing my attention as lets go (prod. by br gunna) did. who boy (prod. by br gunna) - For me, this is the best of the album.
