Guerilla Black was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Guerilla Black and Guerilla City together. Since Guerilla Black last CD (Guerilla City) on Capitol Records back in 2004, I have felt a massive void in my life. Lead single “Hearts Of Fire” and “Guerilla City” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This is one of Guerilla Black best albums
Guerilla City is another strong production from Guerilla Black. Still going through Guerilla City and coming to appreciate Compton (feat. Beenie Man) more and more with every listen. In You’re The One (feat. Mario Winans) it becomes nowhere more obvious that Guerilla Black has yet to define own style. Music of The Strip Club (Skit; feat. Alex Thomas) is gentle, never overbearing. Listening to Trixxx you can hear that Guerilla Black has still amazing chemistry with band members. I loved Guerilla Nasty (feat. Jazze Pha and Brooke Valentine) the first time I heard it. Sunrise one is one of the better boring ones. What We Gonna Do (feat. Nate Dogg) very upbeat. The Hotel (Skit; feat. Alex Thomas and Vonda Hope Easton) is the more seemingly obscure song on Guerilla City that bear up best to repeated listening. Say What is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Yes Sir is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Its All Right is probably the most interesting track on Guerilla City. There is gorgeous mix of music in Girlfriend (feat. Jazze Pha). My First motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others.
