After debuting at No. 1 last week, Jeff Beal’s album Carnivale falls to No. 2 with 450,000, a sales slide of 80%. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Jeff Beal energies, virtually a rebirth. This is one of the best Cd’s Jeff Beal has dropped to date. This is what good Classical should be.
Dora Mae’s Funeral (2:03) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. From the moment you listen to Meet Samson, Ben’s Dream you’re hooked. Justin At Mr. Chin’s (Justin’s Theme) had me crying as I was able to relate so well. His Name Was Michael - A nice song. Storm’s Coming one is one of the better boring ones. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Only one song from Carnivale named Rita Sue And Jonesy really got me. When listening to Lodz And Ben, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. The Carnivale Convoy is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. We Can Be Saved is possibly the best song Jeff Beal has come up. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Carnivale. The Silent Film is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Fix Up Dora Mae is the song that really did it for me. After few listenings I started to like Black Blizzard more and more. Ben Heals Kerrigan - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. Management’s Advice as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Overall a nice softer song. The Russian Front is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. Babylon motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Ben Searches the Templar Hall is my favorite song on Carnivale. Excellent vocals and musical performances. Lodz And Management’s Plot is pretty funky and mellow. A unique and uplifting song.
