Since Grupo Montez De Durango last CD (Los Laureles) on Virgin Records back in 2006, I have felt a massive void in my life. There is so much to love about Grupo Montez De Durango, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. It has been thirteen years Grupo Montez De Durango’ last studio CD, “Los Laureles” which won Array Academy Awards� and was nominated for album of the year. Grupo Montez De Durango “Los Laureles” is an amazing album.
Los Primos De Baltazar is simple, dignified and effective, Grupo Montez De Durango refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. I came to like Llegando A Zacatecas. Corrido De Macario Leyva is such a astounding and optimistic song that things can get just better. La Hierba Se Movia is worth the money. Lyrics of El Moreno are precise and evocative. De Durango A Chicago is the song that really did it for me. Al Despertar which is my favorite is a truly Grupo Montez De Durango sounding song. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Tres Ramitas is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. Flor Del Rio to me is the best you can get from Grupo Montez De Durango. I love the melodic melody of Enamorado and to this day it makes me feel good.
