This disc has all of the essential George Duke classics. On Duke album, George Duke have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. I am not a real Jazz: Funk music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Duke’ really is amazing. If I may, I suggest “Trust”. That one song is amazing!
I Wanna Know - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. Superwoman - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. This track is clearly meant to showcase George Duke’s vocal abilities. T-Jam is one of the coolest songs George Duke has ever recorded. Somebody’s Body has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Sausalito motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Lyrics of Saturday Night are precise and evocative. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. A great put together song. Homeland is possibly the best song George Duke has come up.
