It has been eight years Neil Sedaka’ last studio CD, “Very Best of Neil Sedaka” which won Array Grammy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. This album has some very good songs like Oh Carol and Calender girl. Very Best of Neil Sedaka isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Such great and happy songs.
Voice and instruments in Calender girl complement each other. Happy birthday sweet sixteen is so unique, as each one of the songs is. A fantastic track full of wonder. Laughter in the rain is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Neil Sedaka breathes new life into the music in Love will keep us together. After you’ve listened to The Miracle song, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Standing on the inside is a strong cut, one of many. The hungry years one of the most beautiful songs i’ve ever heard. This song is dynamic and dramatic. Neil Sedaka rocks harder than ever with The queen of 1964. As always, Neil Sedaka’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. In Little devil the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. I’ve found myself listening to That’s when the music take me back to back and back many times. Solitaire (live) - A nice song. Stairway to heaven is a bit of a show-tune. One way ticket (to the blues) is such a exquisite and optimistic song that things can get just better. Laughter In The Rain (Original Version) is one of the best records ever.
