Stanley Donwood has compared writing for Before The Dawn’s new album to that on ‘4-17 AM’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Lead single “Heaven” and “Seed” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Since Before The Dawn last CD (4-17 AM) on EMI Records back in 2004, I have felt a massive void in my life. Smart music for smart people.
This track is a great song that still never gets old. Dreamer is a great opener for 4-17 AM. Fade Away is simple, dignified and effective, Before The Dawn refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Crush is one of the best records ever. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Into You. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. The Black is pretty funky and mellow. Vengeance marked the continuation of Before The Dawn in style evolution. Hiding is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction.
