The Fall’s debut, ‘Fall Heads Roll’, does not fit easily into one genre. Jim Jones has compared writing for The Fall’s new album to that on ‘Fall Heads Roll’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. On Fall Heads Roll album, The Fall have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Pacifying Joint, which shows, blatantly, how much The Fall has evolved as a singer. What About Us? is one of the more up-tempo songs on Fall Heads Roll. This song is dynamic and dramatic. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. If you are a The Fall fan, you will love Midnight Aspen (Reprise). Blindness (7:24) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! I Can Hear the Grass Grow is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. I came to like Bo Demmick. Still going through Fall Heads Roll and coming to appreciate Youwanner more and more with every listen. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Early Days of Channel F is another favourite of mine. Music of Breaking the Rules is gentle, never overbearing. Trust in Me defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone.
