Now signed to Paul Hardcastle’s Virgin Records, the title track from second album “Jazzmasters: Smooth Cuts” leads Paul Hardcastle’s back-to-school campaign. This album has some very good songs like London In Springtime and Can You Hear Me. This disc has all of the essential Paul Hardcastle classics. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
Can You Hear Me sets the tone for the entire album. This track is full of harmonies and gets Jazzmasters: Smooth Cuts off to a relaxing start. Music in Lifetime is excellent as in all tracks of Jazzmasters: Smooth Cuts. You May Be Gone is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Jazzmasters: Smooth Cuts. I hope to keep hearing Paul Hardcastle works for a long time to come. I find myself hearing bits of Runnin’ Back here and there throughout my waking hours. In It Must Be Love the music gets its power. Dreams is simple, dignified and effective, Paul Hardcastle refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. One listen to the sheer beauty of Down So Low was all I needed. Bodyheat is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Emerald Stardust defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Summer Rain (5:15) a good melody. Paul Hardcastle breathes new life into the music in Heaven.
