Since completing 2006’s ‘Defeat’, Kalmah fulfilled their contract with Savoy Records and where under no obligation to release another album. It’s natural for Kalmah to take a stab at ‘Defeat’ considering her long-professed love for Godsplague. While no new Kalmah album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 2006 tour in Asia. Overall, I would highly recommend The Black Waltz CD.
Music in Bitter metallic side is cool as in all tracks of The Black Waltz. Time takes us all (4:23) a good melody. Listening to To the gallows you can hear that Kalmah has still amazing chemistry with band members. Svieri doroga gives good insight into the truths. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on The Black Waltz. Voice of Kalmah in Man of the king is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. The groan of wind is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in The Black Waltz. One from the stands - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Kalmah.
