two years ago, John Cale briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Foraride”. Now signed to John Cale’s Virgin Records, the title track from second album “Black Acetate” leads John Cale’s back-to-school campaign. IF YOU LIKE ALL John Cale’S SONG GO FOR IT! Black Acetate constantly brilliant.
I find myself hearing bits of Foraride here and there throughout my waking hours. Brotherman gets you up and jumping. This track is a great song that still never gets old. Such hits like In a Flood will leave you hooked. I can’t stop playing Hush. Gravel Drive is simple, dignified and effective, John Cale refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. This song stands out greatly from the others. No John Cale song has come close to capturing my attention as Sold-Motel did. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. Wasteland is almost impossible to review. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. After you’ve listened to Mailman (The Lying Song), most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate.
