On Take The Long Way Home: Live In Montreal album, Roger Hodgson have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. This album has some very good songs like Take The Long Way Home and Give A Little Bit. Lead single “Take The Long Way Home” and “Give A Little Bit” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Give A Little Bit
First time I heard Give A Little Bit was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.Lovers In The Wind is the best music that I have heard from anyone in any area of music. Hide In Your Shell - I just love it. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. The Logical Song is a amazing sing-along. This track is clearly meant to showcase Roger Hodgson’s vocal abilities. Sister Moonshine is beautiful, yet underrated track. Love Is A Thousand Times is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit. In Breakfast In America the music gets its power. Don’t Leave Me Now has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Dreamer one of the best in my collection. It’s Raining Again is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. I can’t stop humming along Two Of Us. Give A Little Bit catches attention immediately, Even In The Quietest Moments (3:45) a good melody. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Roger Hodgson.
