It has been thirteen years Pino Daniele’ last studio CD, “Passi D’Autore” which won Array MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. I am not a real Blues music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Passi D’Autore’ really is amazing. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Pino Daniele energies, virtually a rebirth. Pino Daniele is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Passi D’Autore couldn’t start better than with the up up-beat title track Pigro. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. A unique and uplifting song. After few listenings I started to like Stessi Sguardi more and more. Nuages Sulle Note is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Pino Daniele released so far. Dammi Una Seconda Vita is really the reason why I recommend buying Passi D’Autore. When listening to Deja Vu, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. I loved Ali Di Cera the first time I heard it. La Nostra Estate Insieme is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Isola Grande hits the heart. I was truly moved when I heard Tango Della Buena Suerte. Concerto Per Noi Due - Check out that bassline! Sofia Sulle Note - To me, this is the best song on the Passi D’Autore.
