Before Me is an amazing album, racked with beauty.After seeing Do Nothing Till You Hear From Me, I had to have a good Gladys Knight cd. Since Gladys Knight last CD (Before Me) on Blue Note Records back in 2006, I have felt a massive void in my life. I wish that “Before Me” album was instrumental.
This is one hell of a track. Good Morning Heartache is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. The sound in Since I Fell For You is really warm and Gladys Knight’s signature voice is still very much present. God Bless The Child is perfect. I like to sing along with This Bitter Earth, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. I Got It Bad (And That Ain’t Good) is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Someone To Watch Over Me is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Gladys Knight released so far. But Not For Me - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Gladys Knight. This track is clearly meant to showcase Gladys Knight’s vocal abilities. Stormy Weather - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Come Sunday is perfect song though, very addictive.
