It has been fifteen years Cathedral’ last studio CD, “The Serpent’s Gold [Cd 2 ‘chest’]” which won Array Academy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. The Serpent’s Gold [Cd 2 ‘chest’] isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Since Cathedral last CD (The Serpent’s Gold [Cd 2 ‘chest’]) on ForeFront Records back in 2004, I have felt a massive void in my life. Another great offering from Cathedral.
Neophytes For Serpent Eve (Demo) - For me, this is the best of the album. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Cathedral. When I listen to Night Of The Seagulls (Demo) in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Magic Mountain is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. A Funeral Request (Live In Brussles Belgium 18.04.94) is a cool song and it grows on you. The Olde Oak Tree great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Schizoid Puppeteer - This one makes me want to not only sing along. One listen to the sheer beauty of Carnival Bizarre (Demo) was all I needed. Rabies - This is a very lively song. Although Blue Light (Live In Tokyo Japan 30.05.01) is very melodic it is far from sad. Commiserating The Celebration (Of Life; Demo) make listening to Cathedral like being in some sort of time warp.
