Lead single “Stand” and “Open Arms” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Stand isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Michael W. Smith’s album Stand falls to No. 2 with 551,000, a sales slide of 87%. Another great offering from Michael W. Smith.
There is perfect mix of music in Open Arms. Oh Lord You’re Beautiful stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. In In Silence you won’t find any flashy solos. How To Say Goodbye - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. After few listenings I started to like Escape Your Love more and more. Only one song from Stand named Cover Me really got me. Come To The Cross is a cool, simple song by Michael W. Smith at the top of his game. You have to get essence of the Come See’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Be Lifted High is an upbeat song with a constant snare hit.
