On the Luxembourg charts, superstar Mewithoutyou’s career stalled before it left the starting gate. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Mewithoutyou energies, virtually a rebirth. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Mewithoutyou’s album Brother, Sister falls to No. 2 with 325,000, a sales slide of 51%. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Brother, Sister.
Strong, powerful vocals of Mewithoutyou in The Dryness and The Rain are very impressive. Wolf Am I! (And Shadow) is the funkiest number on the album. Once Yellow Spider gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. A Glass Can Only Spill What It Contains is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Nice and Blue (Part 2) is such a perfect and optimistic song that things can get just better. I find myself hearing bits of The Sun and The Moon here and there throughout my waking hours. Orange Spider is absolutely incredible. In C-Minor the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. In A Market Dimly Lit is a striking and quite long song. As always, Mewithoutyou’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Brownish Spider - A nice song. In A Sweater Poorly Knit - A classic Mewithoutyou track.
