fifteen years ago, Runrig briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Hearthammer”. Since Runrig last CD (Day Of Days: The 30th Anniversary Concert) on Virgin Records back in 2004, I have felt a massive void in my life. For older fans Day Of Days: The 30th Anniversary Concert will put a massive smile accross your face. This is one of Runrig best albums
Still going through Day Of Days: The 30th Anniversary Concert and coming to appreciate Hearthammer more and more with every listen. The first time I listened to Protect and Survive I was struck by its exquisite sound. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. Hearts Of Olden Glory is perfect. Siol Ghoraidh - Okay, I just talked about depth. Best song on the album, love it. After few listenings I started to like Running The Light more and more. The Tamping Ground - This is a very lively song. May Morning one of the best in my collection. Faileas Airm An Airigh has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Book Of Golden Stories have really caught my ear and imagination. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. All The Miles is absolutely incredible. A Reiteach is another favourite of mine.
